Playroom Re-do: Part Two

I can officially say I am DONE with the playroom. After a little over a week of working on it, it is finally complete. (Except for a few minor details.)I think Lib and I deserve a trip to the pool! Wait, NO that would be total torture, because it's 100 degrees outside the pool and inside the pool.  We'll think of something to do in celebration! :-)

I didn't take any before pictures, unfortunately! I so wish I did just so I could see how different the change is.  I do have a "during" picture, and it makes me realize that something did change about it! And it really didn't turn out quite like my "inspiration" photos. I think it's still super cute though, considering I pretty much just worked with what I had. I didn't buy one thing for this playroom, well except for paint, ribbon, fabric and the rug from a yard sale.

So here it is... The new and improved playroom!

Minor details that need to be fixed. Add the top shelf to the right bookcase (I had to paint it separately). and move the painting down in between the bookcases.

What do you think?? I thought it turned out cute. Now the trick is... keeping it this way! I think it will be much easier to keep up since I eliminated a TON of her toys. It's amazing how much a little paint will do! All those hours in the garage sweating like a pig paid off! Oh yeah, these pictures really make me appreciate the outcome even more.

Whew! Makes me tired looking at this mess.

And this is totally unrelated, but I seriously cannot believe that Libby turned 3 4 months ago today! I just know 4 is approaching too fast! Makes me sad...

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Ours is going to be filled with no time in the garage painting, and I'm so excited about that!

Ohh- Did I fix the commenting thing this time?? I don't know what's been going on with it. I've just gotten several emails and FB messages saying that people can't comment. Let me know!

Headboard Makeover

If you are feeling that your room needs a face lift, and don't want to spend a lot of $$, then making a headboard is your best bet. (I think!) I've made 2, and they have really spiced up the room. I spent a total of around $40. Which is NOTHING compared to ones you can buy already made.

The first headboard I made for our room I just did a very simple off-white fabric. Since then I have switched around our bedding. (I'm so indecisive!) Now our bedding is all white. So it was a little boring with the white sheets, pillow and comforter. I notice that the fabric store down the street from us was having a BIG sale. So, Libby and I went and checked it out. Basically I couldn't walk out of that store without some fabric in my hands... It was that good of a deal! So Libby and I decided on a fabric, brought it home and made this in about 20 minutes...

All I did was strip off the white fabric I had on before, and just re-covered it with this fabric. I thought it turned out cute, considering I spend 20 minutes on it! Now I just need to frame some pictures to go over the bed since the painting doesn't match it anymore.

Vintage Photos

I found this website during my daily blog stalking. Thought it was pretty cool. Vintage photos!

Here are some that I have done. I have big plans of printing these out on photo paper and framing them. Cool, huh? And totally cheap, even better!

Camp Bessie

I just received an email from Bessie- (Libby spent the afternoon and night with Bessie and Papa yesterday.)

Take a Look... :)

From Bessie:
Sorry bout the no bathing suit...didn't know we were going to be getting in

the water and before I knew it she was taking her clothes off...made her
keep her panties on!!!  She was not as deep as they look...she was sitting

down in the water in most of them.

Libby was feeling a little wild and free.I love it!! Now that I got a good laugh in this morning, I can tackle my To Do list for today:

But thanks to Bessie for keeping Libby... I'm hoping I can check things off faster than normal.

P.S.- Can y'all comment? I think my settings were messed up and wouldn't let people comment. Hoping it's fixed... I like comments. :)

AquaPalooza 2010

I got to experience AquaPalooza this weekend for the first time. And it was awesome. For those who don't know what AquaPalooza is, it's a concert on the lake, sponsored by Sea Ray. Each year they have a "signature" event. Last year Lake Martin was chosen to do the signature event. Alan Jackson came, and I missed it! I had a wedding to go to, but the wedding was fun. So it ended up being OK. Here are some pictures from AquaPalooza 2009, I can just dream how much fun it would have been . :-)

Here are some pictures from AquaPalooza 2010. Not nearly as big, but it was still a big crowd considering the bands that played weren't near as famous as Alan Jackson.

Nolen, Libby and I came by car with my parents, then Nolen and I swam to my parents boat where my sister and her friends were during the concert. Pictures from Bessie's awesome camera.

Libby had an absolute blast.

Stay tuned: See who wins the "dancing queen" award of the weekend...

Inspiration

It's Sunday afternoon. Everyone in the house is asleep. Everyone = Nolen and Libby. And I'm loving it! This is what I do when I have the house to myself. Yes, "to myself" is not really to myself, but it's close!

I blog stalk.

Recently I've had my eyes on design blogs. I added a lot of design blogs to my reader last week. I have no clue who these women are, but they get my brain spinning.

I scored some things at a friends yard sale on Friday that I can't wait to get my hands on. I got a kitchen set for Libby. She got a play kitchen for her 2nd birthday, but it's not a "cute" one. So I'm going to take it to the lake for her to play with at Sasa and Who's.

My inspiration for the "new" play kitchen:

This pink Retro kitchen from Pottery Barn Kids. I'm thinking it will be simple, just a little paint and voila a look-a-like PBK kitchen for way less that $500. Libby's just 3, she doesn't need a $500 kitchen.

So, I have one more bookcase to paint, a kitchen to paint, and a lot of sorting through toys. I'm hoping this playroom will be finished this week. Yea! I'm pumped.

My next project is- guest room / office. I'm thinking of doing something like this.

Taking down the doors to the closet and making it our office. Shouldn't be to hard. I'm excited to see what ideas pop into my head!

P.S. Don't worry- I wouldn't be sportin' those cool Mom jeans and boots in my new office space.

Feeling a Little Guilty...

I've felt a little guilty for the past few days. I've been super busy trying to get these projects started and finished that I haven't put in enough "Libby" time. I've been in the garage and she will stay in the house playing Barbies, dress up, coloring and watching cartoons (I told myself I would cut down the amount of TV this summer).  She's been a trooper through all of this painting mess. She watched me paint for a while in this very-uncomfortable-Alabama-heat.

Then she decided this was so boring and HOT. She asked if she could paint, so I set her up at the kitchen table. And I don't know why I decided to get her dressed right before painting? Especially in a WHITE outfit. The fumes must have gotten to me.

And here she is thinking, "Come on Mom, I'm so bored I just put stickers up my arm, please put the paint brush down and lets play princess!"

And FYI- This is the last time Libby had her paci! Isn't that the most exciting things ever!!

She's definitely asked for it, but I just tell her "I don't know, babies only have pacis." It seemed to work! Crossing my fingers it works FOREV.ER! She's been going to bed without her paci for the past 2 nights! Yay! And we haven't been woken up to, "Mommy where's my paci?"

So back to me feeling like I've been a bad Mommy-

Wednesday Libby and I were ready to get out of the house and do something fun and FREE. I've been wanting to take her to story time at the Auburn Public Library all summer, but for some reason we've never made it. It's every Wednesday at 10 a.m, and we finally made it this Wednesday! And Libby loved it just like I thought she would.

The theme was the Beach. The librarian read 3 books about the Beach, and they all sang 2 songs. I wish I got  the songs on video. Libby had "If You're Happy and You Know It" down pat! It was the cutest! At the end they had 2 tables set up with a art activity on it. A sandcastle. How appropriate!

After "story time" Libby went to play legos with some girls. And we also went and picked out a few books to read. We sat at a table and read several books. She was in heaven! She loves being read to. I think I get asked to read "Cinderella" around a 100 times a day. :-)

I was very happy to know that we can add another activity on our list of "Things to do" this summer.

Since I am finished with all of my projects (as of right now). We are going to spend the day doing fun stuff! We have a picnick planned at the park today, and maybe a visit to Frog Legs
