Workbooks

While browsing the $1 section last week at Target, I came across some work books. You see, I had been looking for something educational to do with Libby in the afternoon after she got home from school.

We usually get home and have a snack and "rest" for about an hour, {lets face it... we are both pretty tired when we get home, especially when you have a pretty decent walk to class in the 1,000 degree heat!!}, then we do anything and everything we can think of that doesn't involve a TV. This child would watch TV all day if I let her!

These workbooks have been an answered prayer! She LOVES them! Like wanted to do every.single.page.  Best $4 I've spent in  a while! {I bought 4, they were $1 each!}

Have a great day!!

Our Week-Long- On- the- Road Vacation

This week-long-on-the-road vacation was actually 2 weeks ago. During this "vaca" my camera broke AGAIN!!!! Talk about frustration! I got my camera back this Saturday, hence the reason why I haven't posted this before now.

My Dad let me borrow his camera that's just like mine, because my iPhone wasn't going to cut it for the first day of school and ballet.

Anyway... The reason for this vacation was because Nolen was in St. Louis for work for about 6 days. We started off at the lake for 2 days then went to Birmingham for 2 days, then back home to Auburn.

While we were at the lake we went on some walks in the morning. I sure did get my work out pulling the Libster.

We put together a princess puzzle with Sasa. Libby loved helping find the pieces that matched.

We of course went to the pool...

I also was able to get away for a few hours and have breakfast with a sweet friend before we left for Birmingham.

When we got to Birmingham my camera broke, so I don't have many pictures. We had a great time though. We celebrated Allene's birthday, went to the movies, ate some delicious food and laughed our heads off at Photobooth!

Here's one of the many pictures we took! Sorry Gran I just thought it was too funny! :-)

Flashback Friday

I thought I would bring back Flashback Friday since my girl started pre-k this week. I keep thinking to myself how in the WORLD do I have a {almost} 4.5 year old. Crazy.

Here is Libby on her first day of 2-year-old preschool, in September 2009. She was such a little baby!

Libby's first day of 3- year-old preschool, in September 2010.

And... First day of 4-year-old preschool, in August 2011. Such a big girl!!!

I'm going to try to savor every second of this last year of preschool, because I know this year will fly by like all the others.

Pre-K

Libby had her first day of 4-year-old preschool yesterday! She was so excited! She woke up bright and early at 7 AM. {That's early for her considering she doesn't go to school until 10:30.} She had a very nutritious breakfast which consisted of a big cinnamon bun, juice and a note from me.

She was the most excited about taking her lunch to school, since she has never eaten lunch at school before. She requested a peanut butter sandwich, grapes, cookies and apple juice. So, that's what she got!

She has the sweetest, most loving teacher, Ms. Laura and some sweet friends that she knew from last year in her class. She will go Monday-Friday from 10:30- 1:30.

Here are some pictures from our photo shoot at the front door.

I may or may not have shed a few tears when I dropped her off. It just seems so "big kid" to drop her off in a carpool line. Especially at such a "big kid" school. {She goes to AEEC, where you go when you are in Kindergarten.} I'm going to be a mess the first day of Kindergarten. Thank goodness we have another year before that!

The theme this week is "All About Me". Libby has a stack of pictures of all her family that she can't wait to show her friends this week!

I dropped her off with a big smile on her face and picked her up with a big smile on her face. I'd say it was a successful first day back to school!

First Day of Ballet

Libby had her first day of ballet yesterday afternoon. She has been SO excited all week! She couldn't wait to put on her leotard, skirt and shoes. It was so cute to see her get so excited.

This is part of her sweet class listening to their sweet teacher read Angelina Ballerina. Libby was so excited about this. She loves Angelina Ballerina!

She will go every Thursday afternoon at 2. So, we will basically change in the car right after school on Thursdays.

I can't wait to see what she learns. I know she's going to love it!!

Rainy Days and Very Hot Days

Recently it's either been raining or too hot to go outside. Therefore, on the days we are at home we've had to get creative with activities. We did finger painting almost every morning when in rained for DAYS a few weeks ago. Daddy had a new masterpiece every day that week!

 Libby loved it!

We also did a new activity today. We made peanut butter play dough. Super easy to make, and you most likely will have all 3 ingredients on hand. This was also my FIRST Pinterest thing to make.

If you aren't familiar with Pinterest, you need to be. It's totally addicting, but you can find some pretty cool stuff on there. And I've practical built my dream home.

Libby loved rolling it out and using cookie cutters to cut shapes out.

*************************
On a little side note, Libby cut her hair 2 days ago.

We all cried.

You can't tell in this picture because the clip is covering it up. She cut herself some side bangs... She's still the cutest little girl in our eyes, but it's taken a little bit of time to get adjusted to her "new" look. I am personally not a fan of bangs on young children either. I just have to remember that it could be worse and hair does grow back. Her hair grows really slow though. She probably has 3 haircuts a year.

Oh well, I feel like every child does it at some point. I know I did!

Friday Night

A few Fridays ago we walked around campus after dinner. It was so nice because it was just us, and Libby could run everywhere. And believe it or not it was pleasant outside.

Libby loved the flowers. She's a flower lover.

This was all Nolen's idea... Worshipping the stadium. He's joking of course! He's not that crazy of an Auburn fan.

PROMISE!!! He probably did it just to get a reaction out of me. :-)

This is the only picture I got of Lib and me. Awkward, much??

Hard to believe in a few short weeks we will be here again for football season! Summer has really gone by way too fast!

Instagram

One of my favorite apps on my iPhone is Instagram. It's a FREE photo editing app.

It is so addicting!

Here are some recent and not so recent pictures I have taken.

This is a  vegetable crepe from the Crepe Myrtle Cafe in Auburn. One of my favorite lunch places.

One of favorite summer nail polishes. Barracuda by Sally Hansen.

Libby watching cartoons one morning.

Running on campus.

My morning coffee.

My morning view some mornings. This describes Nolen so well right now... Business and Finance.

Swimming with Sasa at the pool.

Lindsey and Ann pulling the basil leaves off to make pesto. Yum!

Have a great weekend!!!

Lately

This is going to be another "lately" post, because I have a bunch of random pictures I want to share from the past few days.

This week we went to the pool. Thank goodness it didn't rain!

We listened to some oldies on Pandora while we swam. {I'm kind of obsessed with Pandora.}

Libby has been riding her scooter a lot lately. After dinner we always go outside and play or walk around the neighborhood... Trying to get the last bit of energy out before bath time and bedtime.

She has been "playing" golf with Nolen. It would just make Nolen's life day if she wanted to play golf {or really any other sport}. The girl is set on ballet though.

Don't worry... Barbie and Ken didn't miss out on the action.

And Libby is pretty obsessed with finding "moneys" around the house and putting them in her piggy bank. I'm sure she's saving up for another Barbie!

And I can't help but feel a little sad that it's August 1. Only 2 more weeks of summer.
