Open House

Libby had preschool open house this morning!  She was a little shy at first around her teachers and friends, but she quickly warmed up. It's been since the beginning of May since they were all together in their classroom. She saw Mrs. Carmello, Mrs. Rich and some of her friends during the summer, so there weren't any strange faces.

She has the same teachers from last year (Mrs. Carmello and Mrs. Rich), same classmates (a few new ones), and the same class room. So there won't be too many changes (thank goodness!).

Of course Libby went straight to the dress-up box. She picked out this red beauty! Reminds me of something from the 1940s, and she is building a castle in case you were wondering.

Libby and Avery playing in their dress up clothes.

Coloring the apple and she spelled her name for Mrs. Carmello. She was very proud!

Libby having her tea party and Emily feeding her baby.

Libby is getting her beauty sleep as I type. Her Daddy put her to bed at 7:30... Early for my night owl! I have Bible study on Tuesday nights, so Nolen has night duties with Libby.

I still can't believe Libby starts school tomorrow! The summer went by way too fast, but I know she will have so much fun at school this year! Her teachers are so sweet and love her, and that makes me so happy! It's going to be a BIG year, and I can't wait to watch my sweet baby girl learn and grow this year!

Lake Day

This past Friday Libby and I were feeling like we needed to go to the lake for the day. Since she starts school Wednesday, I thought this could be her last "hurrah" before she starts 3-year-old preschool. We invited our friends Tucker and Blakely to come along with us! We loved having them with us for the day.

We ate lunch at the Grille, then headed to the Cabana. We started off at the pool.

Then this Mama and her 2 babies decided to join us in the pool...

Libby was scared to death of the ducks. I mean like screaming, hanging onto me with all she had. I tried to calm her down and tell her they were just hear to play, they weren't going to hurt us, etc.

She wasn't listening though. She had her mind made up that she wasn't swimming with or near those ducks. Tucker was loving the ducks though! We brought some water guns with us and he got the water gun and said, "Come on Mama lets go shoot those ducks." He is so boy, and just like his Daddy!

Libby on the other hand is all girl, and wanted nothing to do with those ducks. Thank goodness the beach is right beside the pool.

Before we knew it, it was time to go. We packed up the car and headed back to Auburn. Tucker and Libby were worn out! Especially Libby from all the screaming she did about the ducks.

And this is what they both looked like in no time!

We had so much fun! Can't wait to do it again!

The Closet: {Part 1}

I'll be tackling my closet  this weekend. {Woop Woop!!} It feels like I've cleaned out my closet every month lately, but this time is going to be different! I just know it is. I'm going to make it the best clean out of my closet EVER! I'm so tired of Nolen yelling from our room, "Addie, How am I supposed to get into our closet?!? You have WAY too many clothes! I've never seen so many clothes in my life." etc, etc.

So before this weekend is over {I got 1 more full day!} I'm going to make my sweet husband the happiest husband in Auburn, Alabama! I'm sure of it.

I got some of these huggable hangers. I hope there as amazing as I hear.

I also have some storage containers and baskets.

And this will be my inspiration:

Even though the outcome of my closet will look nothing like this, it will keep me motivated during the process.

Happy weekend! xoxo

Star

"Look Mommy I found a star!!"

"Come on Daddy!! Look at the stars!"

"One, two, free, four, five, SIXTEEN stars!!!" (There were only 2 that we could see) :-)

"Noo Fhank you Daddy, I want to go outside!"

Goodnight!

Dentist & Gymnastics

Well, we made it out of the dentist office alive (and NO CAVATIES!) There's not much to say about the visit, only that she cried, screaming, kicked, etc. Poor thing was just so scared! She never had been around a dentist office before, and she doesn't do well with transitions at. all. And it doesn't help that the teenager next to her was getting his teeth cleaned (with that loud, scary toothbrush) and he was bleeding! Scary to a 3 year old.

We had to move to a individual room because we were distracting all the other patients. We literally had to pin her down in the chair for the dentist to clean her teeth. I had her arms and the dental hygienist had her legs. She was REAL good at opening her mouth real wide. :-) It was fast and harmless, and we got a good report. Thank goodness!

The dentist was FABULOUS!! Now I know why she does what she does. If you want to be a Pediatric Dentist you have to be good with kids, and not get frustrated easily! She was exactly that. The sweetest lady!

Libby even got some goodies when we left. A princess tooth brush, princess toothpaste, princess floss and a pink ball. Girly much?? And they gave her a cute t-shirt! And this...

This was before she got hysterical. She still wasn't going to smile for anyone though.

We ended the day on a good note though! We had gymnastics! Way more fun than the dentist.
She even wore her "dentist" shirt over her leotard. She was ready to go to "gynastics"

Libby's gymnastic friend, Mary Grace (black leotard) is quite the little gymnast!

Attempting at a forward role by herself.

Libby's sweet class waiting to go on the trampoline.
L to R: Caroline, Libby, Mary Grace and Sarah is in front jumping. Libby's the oldest and tallest.

Getting a prize after class. She told the teacher that she wanted an orange sticker!

Libby is definitely improving. She has so much fun! Her favorite is still the trampoline and her least favorite is probably bars and climbing the net.

And she thinks it's pretty cool that she takes gymnastics at the same place the Auburn University gymnast practice! We even saw them. Very cool to a girl who knows nothing but Auburn!

8.24.2010

Summer Jam

This is Libby's song for the summer. Loves it! We listen to it in the morning, and she always ask for the "Hey, Hey, Hey Soul Sister" song in the car. Good thing it's on the radio a lot! She could listen to it 5 times in a row and not get tired of it.

We have a busy day... Included Libby's first trip to the dentist. The dentist might consider quiting her job after we leave. We'll see how it goes! A little prayer won't hurt!

Oh yeah, didn't even come close to my "weekend project". I was working on it Sunday afternoon, and we had an accident. Libby walked on two of the picture frames and they broke. Thank goodness she didn't get cut! But I was a little upset. So I've got to wait until I can get back down to Montgomery to get more frames.

Happy Tuesday! :)

Weekend Project

I've been wanting a wall of pictures in our living room for a while now. I'm feeling it's going to happen this weekend. Finally. I've got the frames, I just need to get some pictures. Shouldn't be too hard.

Some inspiration...

And I just really love this room. This is how I see Libby's room being when she's older.

Now I've really got to get this done. I thought if I put it out for all of you people to read, then I'll have to get it done. Ya know, a little pressure does some good. :)

In Love With These...

How cute are these little girl TOMS shoes?? They might not be the cutest shoe ever, but I still think they're cute.

I saw these on Jessica Alba's little girl in a magazine, and thought they were so cute on her! So of course that means they would be so cute on Libby.

And it's a great cause.

Happy TGIF!

Ready or Not...

School has started here in Auburn. I forget how hectic it is the first few days. From trying to find a parking spot (30 minutes I might add) to trying to get into a certain class, it just makes out for an exhausting first few days. Thank goodness I don't have classes on Friday! I feel like from about 8:45-12:00 today could have been equivalent to about 3 days. I was literally knocking on professors doors asking if there was anyway they would let me into this communication class I need. I even hiked up to the 9th floor of Haley Center to get the answer, "Mam, you just need to watch online and see if anything opens up." Well yeah, I could have figured that out myself. Thanks a lot.

Frustration at it's best. And I might add that I don't understand why Haley Center is the way it is. I still get lost, and I've been in there numerous times. Who thought of 1200 Quadrant and 2200 Quadrant? I feel like I need to take a Haley Center 101 class.

Things ended on a good note though. The last professor I talked to was very nice , and I am confident she will grant my wish of letting me in this class. She was actually really nice and didn't just have the answer "No, No, No." It's was the most glorious thing ever.

Sorry for the nagging. I've got to let my frustration our somehow, and poor Nolen has heard enough.

Things haven't been all that bad though, Libby started her first day of gymnastics at Auburn Gymnastics Academy this Tuesday. She loved it! And I loved watching her love it. It's a Mommy and Me class with three other little girls that are so sweet and precious. Her teacher (Miss Chelsea) is so sweet and patient.

Her favorite part hands down was the trampoline. LOVED it. She couldn't really concentrate on the other activities, she was so caught up on doing scissor jumps on the trampoline, and watching all the "big" girls (5 year olds). I only got one good picture of her on the bars. I'll try and get some more pictures next week.

She loved it so much she even cried when we left. Typical thing of Miss Libby these days. When I was putting Libby in the car one of my friends came up to me and said, "I wish I could tell you the drama ends but it just gets worse." She said her five year old told her yesterday that she was ruining her life. Five years old.. I feel it coming for me. Payback time.

I thought Libby looked so cute in her leotard. She was so proud of it. She wore it all day... Even to the grocery store, but I made her put her dress on over it. Next week I'm not going to tell her we're going to gymnastics until like 4 o'clock. I told her in the morning this Tuesday, and she thought that meant we were going right then. Hence why she wore the leotard all day.

It's so fun having a girl that is so girly. I love it!! I wouldn't trade the 3-year-old drama for anything. (I can't believe I just said that!)

BHAM

Nolen had to work in Birmingham this week. So, Libby and I went up 280 on Monday morning so we could see him and other family. We ate dinner at Otey's on Monday night with Anderson, Allene, Jane, Chris and Ann. Nolen played tennis with his brother, so he sweated while we ate. Tuesday during the day Libby and I had a busy fun filled day. We went to McWane Center! She loved it.

We went to the Mr. Potatoehead Exhibit and she loved everything, but this guy...

She just wanted to play with the "not real" Mr. Potatoehead.

This is her I-gotta-go-to-the-bathroom-but-don't-want-to- stance. She didn't want to leave Mr. Potatohead, but really needed to go to the bathroom. Though life for a 3-year-old I tell ya! I had to pull her away from it to go to the bathroom. An accident would have not been fun.

She was thanking me after. She found out that playing was so much more fun if you didn't have to use the restroom.

Then we went over to the play gym. My camera stinks. It's all blurry! But I can assure you she loved it!

Drove the truck... She so badly wanted me to drive next to her, but it was only for little people.

Loved the butterflies! Once again my camera stinks.

Libby loved this. I think it was beads that would drop down on the projector, and you could pretend to hold them.

When we left we put a penny in the bowl and watched it go around about 100 times. Then Libby decided she wanted it back.

To cool off we headed here.

Libby loved her snack.

Then we went to the library in Crestline Village. Libby loved it. The first book she asked was Strawberry Shortcake. The librarian couldn't fine any, they were all checked out so we settled for "Where's Waldo?" and every book that was the color pink.

Then the most amazing moment happened. They found a Strawberry Shortcake book!

We read it about 10 times I think. Then she said she wanted to go home. So we were getting ready to leave, and then she said,"No Mommy getcha purse!" She wanted me to go buy the book. It was hard to explain that we don't live her so we can't check the book out. That doesn't mean anything to a 3-year-old though. All she wanted me to do was get my wallet out and buy the book.

We left screaming and crying. And it lasted the whole way back to Ann's house. Then she cried her self to sleep crying, "I want Strawberry Shortcake!" When she woke up she still wanted Strawberry Shortcake. She got over it sometime that night. Probably when we went to dinner with Thomas and Amber, when she had chicken and fries in front of her.

We had so much fun time seeing all of our Birmingham family. Wish we could have stayed longer though! I'm sure we'll be back sooner than later!

And I'm so excited... I signed Libby up for gymnastics yesterday! She starts this coming up Tuesday at 4:30. I think she's going to love it! I can't wait to see how it goes!
