Pensacola Trip

We have been on the go for almost a week. Libby and I decided to go to Pensacola last Wednesday to see some family with my Mom. It was a very quick trip, but a fun one! Libby got to see her great-grandmother, Mimi and her sweet cousins McColl and Lucy. McColl is Libby's age and Lucy 3 months old. So, we were excited about meeting Lucy for the first time.

She is so cute and cuddly! Definitely had some baby fever goin' on.

Mimi's 3 great-granddaughters- McColl, Lucy and Libby

Libby and McColl loved playing dress up.

After we spent most of the day with Mimi and the girls, we headed to Cheryl's house. We had a great dinner with Cheryl and Jack. Great is probably not the word though. More like a screaming-crying-3 year old child- having a fit b/c she wants to be read to- dinner. After dinner Jack read her a book and she loved it , and only wanted Jack to read Pinkalicious and Fancy Nancy

We survived though. That's what I keep saying to myself. We survived. Libby is kind of going through a different stage right now. She's  just very needy and whiny. Especially around people. It's tiring and exhausting, and sometimes I think having a newborn would be easier. :-)

On Thursday we had reservations at Azalea Trace (where Mimi lives) for lunch. On our way to lunch we stopped by the neighborhood  where my Mom grew up. She lived in North Hill ( Historic District of P'Cola). It was a very pretty neighborhood with a lot of trees and pretty family homes. Here is the house she grew up in.

She said that it looks different from when she lived there. It was white and I think she said it didn't have the garages on the right side. But pretty much the same. I was imagining how it was in the 50s and 60s when she lived there. I'm reading The Help right now, and I kept asking Mom how things were back then. I just couldn't believe that their maid had a different bathroom from their family. Mom said they never thought about it being rude or mean- It was just what you did. Mom and her sibilings loved Blanch their maid. Just like how most of the kids in the book loved their maids.

After I had a tour of North Hill, we went to have lunch with Mimi. Libby was so excited to see Mimi.

After lunch we took a picture of 4 generations.

We had a great trip to Pensacola. Wish we could've stayed longer. I'm hoping we can go again sometime soon. We will definitely be back in September for Mimi's 90th birthday!

I'll post tomorrow about our weekend at the lake for the 4th!
